Visit of the Patriarch of Alexandria to the Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria

Patriarch of Alexandria Theodore’s meeting with Pope Tawadros II was held at the headquarters of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria.

The Alexandrian Primate referred to the missionary activity of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Africa, emphasizing the important and difficult work being done in the African continent. “Our Churches are one Church, ‘headed by Jesus Christ’.

Greece and Egypt are fighting for peace in Libya and I know that you are praying because you have a flock there and the soil is watered with the blood of the Martyrs of the Coptic Church and this blood is crying out for ‘freedom and peace’.”The Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church thanked the Patriarch of Alexandria and emphasized “Every time I meet you, I feel an inner joy. I watch and admire your ministry in all African countries, especially in the fields of education and nursing system. We have the same Name, we work in the same field, and ‘we are children of St. Apostle Mark the Evangelist’.”

Pope Tawadros, clearly moved, stressed that Libya is a beautiful country and that he always prays for the difficult situation there.
