The Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine, which convened today, on Monday, March 4, chaired by Metropolitan Epiphanius, was concluded.
During the Holy Synod, various issues were discussed concerning the newly established Church and the situation in the country.
The Holy Synod discussed the request of Uniate Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, regarding his intention to officiate the Divine Liturgy in Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kiev.
According to the Holy Synod, such an event would cause serious internal problems in Ukraine.
The Holy Synod expressed its opposition, because Saint Sophia Cathedral has always been the House of the Metropolitan of Kiev.
Finally, the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine approved a formal statement on the state of Orthodoxy in Ukraine.
