Memory of Martyr Quadratus and those with him at Corinth

By Bishop Grigorios of Mesaoria

Our Holy Church today commemorates Martyr Quadratus and those with him at Corinth.

Saints Quadratus, Anectus, Paul, Dionysius, Cyprian and Crescens were friends and martyred during the persecution of Emperor Decius. After their arrest, the governor of Jason tried in various ways to entice and persuade them to renounce their Christian Faith.

They stubbornly refused, confessing their faith in the true God and savior Jesus Christ, urging the Governor to repent before it is too late. Jason became furious and ordered to be cruelly tortured to death. Thus they remained faithful friends of Christ and won the glorious crown of amaranth and heavenly honor.
