Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens presided over the Funeral Service for Father Georgios Metallinos at the Church of Saint Thomas in Ampelokipi.
Hierarchs of the Church of Greece, clergymen of the Archdiocese of Athens and other Metropolises, and many professors attended the Funeral Service. It is noteworthy that Father Georgios was also a Professor at the Theological School of the University of Athens. A lot of people gathered at the Church of Saint Thomas in Ampelokipi in order to pay tribute to their beloved priest, who was an important figure in the Orthodox Church world.
Following the Funeral Service, the body of late Father George Metallinos will be transferred to the Holy Monastery of Virgin Mary Platytera in Corfu, where he will be buried on Sunday at noon.
